Surrey Public School looking for a Head Custodian/Maintenance. Applications will be taken until February 21, 2025 or until filled. The Head Custodian receives overall direction from the Superintendent. The Head Custodian operates within district and school policies and procedures and upholding custodial, labor, and industry standards. Qualifications: • Must have or be able to obtain a bus license • Preference to applicants with 5 years of supervising employees • Experience in custodial services • Experience in operating plant services as in: Plumbing, heating, and boiler • Computer knowledge to run building systems • Skills that include carpentry and other minor repairs • Familiar with lawn and irrigation equipment • Effective leadership, communication, and management skills • Excellent planning skills • Must be able to accommodate flexible hours due to snow removal, breakdowns, game cleanup, weekend activities, and parent conferences. Duties and Responsibilities: • Perform and oversee repair and maintenance of all equipment, buildings, and grounds of the district. • Recommend to the Superintendent the purchase and replacement of maintenance equipment and custodial supplies • Cleans assigned facilities and/or grounds (e.g. classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive environment. • Provide daily maintenance where needed • Meet on a regular basis with Superintendent to review needed maintenance work and purchase of supplies • Assign work schedules for custodial staff • Direct the work of custodial staff • Present price comparisons and specifications of needed custodial supplies • Consult the building Superintendent as to needed maintenance • Make weekly inspections of all buildings and grounds • Assist in the evaluation of custodial staff • Maintain necessary records as required • Implement a program of preventive maintenance • Understand and implement safety procedures as required by the District • Perform other duties as assigned • May require flexible hours to accommodate snow removal, breakdowns, game cleanup, weekend activities, and parent conferences.
